I have taught piano privately to beginners through advanced levels for 25 years. I regularly encourage students to participate and work towards performance goals. These include the ISMTA AIM Examinations, National Guild of Piano Playing Auditions, recitals, competitions and festivals.
I have been an active member of the Southwest Area Chapter of the Illinois State Music Teachers' Association for the last twenty six years. I have held the office of secretary, newsletter editor, publicity chair, membership chair, and president. At present, I serve as the AIM Chairperson for the Southwest Area MTA.
I serve as Music Director at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in far west Joliet, IL where I lead the Adult and Youth Choirs, sing as vocalist and play piano for weekend Masses. I began as accompanist for SFX in 2005 and assumed Music Director in 2010.

I am adjunct piano faculty at the University of St. Francis. I have performed with the Joliet Symphony Orchestra and I'm active as an accompanist for vocal, instrumental, choral performances and theater productions. I am the music director for the "Summertime on Stage" Drama camp, held in the summer at Bicentennial Theater in Joliet serving as vocal director and accompanist.
I am active as an adjudicator and have judged many piano festivals, competitions, auditions and examinations.
I continue my professional development by attending conferences, including the Illinois State Music Teachers' Conventions and other workshops and clinics.
I am the webmaster of my studio website eplingpianostudio.com.
I have been married to my wife, Judy for 28 years. I have a college age daughter, Kathryn. I enjoy family time, cooking, gardening, exercise and attending music concerts.
